Payments and earnings

Payments Policy

Understand how payments, task budgets, worker earnings, refunds, cancellations, and payment-related issues are intended to work on Lepem WorkHub.

Important: This is a draft template, not a description of a fully operational payment system. Confirm your payment provider, platform fees, payout schedule, refund rules, and task-completion process before publishing this page.

1. Overview

Lepem WorkHub is designed to connect clients who need digital work completed with workers who can perform tasks such as transcription, writing, proofreading, document formatting, and related services.

This policy describes the proposed rules for payments and earnings. The specific payment options available to a user will depend on the features enabled on the platform and the terms shown when a transaction is made.

2. Client payments

Clients may be required to pay the displayed task price and any disclosed fees before a task begins or before its completed work is released. The exact timing will depend on the payment workflow implemented by Lepem WorkHub.

  • Review the task description and total price before paying.
  • Check any applicable fees, currency, and payment terms.
  • Provide accurate information required by the payment provider.
  • Keep transaction confirmations and relevant task records.

A task should not be treated as paid unless the payment system confirms the transaction. Displaying a payment button or submitting a payment form alone does not guarantee success.

3. Task budgets and platform fees

The task budget and any platform fees should be displayed clearly before the client confirms a transaction. If fees apply, the checkout or task-creation screen should explain how they are calculated.

Price changes

Any change to an agreed task price should be communicated to the affected parties and accepted through the applicable platform process before additional charges are made.

Currency and conversion

The currency used for a transaction should be displayed before payment. A bank or payment provider may apply its own currency conversion rate or additional charges under its terms.

4. Worker earnings

Worker earnings should be calculated according to the agreed task price, disclosed platform fees, and the task's completion and approval status.

Where the platform uses an approval process, a worker's submission may need to be reviewed before earnings become eligible for payout. The review criteria and expected process should be explained in the applicable task rules.

  • Only eligible, verified earnings should be marked payable.
  • Any deductions must be disclosed and permitted by applicable law.
  • Workers should be able to review relevant earnings records.
  • Workers must not be promised income or a guaranteed amount of work.

The actual fee structure and approval process must be published before the platform starts processing paid tasks.

5. Worker payouts

Payouts may be offered through supported payment methods once the required payment features are implemented. Workers may need to provide accurate payout details and complete identity or account checks required by the payment provider or applicable law.

Payout timing can depend on payment-provider processing, account verification, weekends, bank holidays, transaction reviews, and other factors outside the platform's direct control.

Before launch, this section should state the supported payout methods, minimum payout threshold if any, applicable fees, payout schedule, and how failed payouts are handled.

6. Refunds and cancellations

Refund eligibility may depend on the task status, the terms agreed by the client and worker, the reason for cancellation, payment provider rules, and applicable consumer-protection law.

Before work begins

The platform should explain whether a client can cancel a task before a worker begins and whether a refund or cancellation fee applies.

After work begins

If a task is cancelled after work has started, the platform should apply a clearly disclosed cancellation process that fairly considers the work completed and the applicable terms.

Refund processing

Approved refunds should be handled through the relevant payment method where possible. The time required for the funds to appear may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.

Do not publish a blanket "no refunds" rule without reviewing applicable law and the actual payment arrangement. Mandatory legal rights may apply regardless of a platform policy.

7. Payment disputes

If a client or worker disagrees with a payment, task approval, refund decision, or payout record, they should use the contact method listed on our Contact page.

To help review the issue, the parties may be asked for relevant information such as a task reference, transaction confirmation, submission status, or messages relating to the task. Do not send passwords, full card numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive financial information.

Any review process, response timeframe, and available resolution options should be stated accurately once the platform has established those procedures.

8. Fraud, suspicious activity, and chargebacks

Users must not use Lepem WorkHub to make fraudulent transactions, submit false payment claims, misuse another person's payment information, or attempt to obtain unauthorized refunds or payouts.

Where permitted by law and the relevant provider's terms, suspicious transactions may be reviewed, delayed, restricted, or cancelled. Accounts may be restricted when there is a legitimate security concern or a violation of platform rules.

Users should contact their payment provider promptly if they discover an unauthorized transaction. They should also notify Lepem WorkHub when the issue relates to a platform task or record.

9. Taxes and payment records

Users are responsible for understanding their own tax obligations unless applicable law provides otherwise. Depending on the user's location, transaction type, and the platform's legal structure, additional tax collection, reporting, or documentation requirements may apply.

Keep copies of relevant invoices, receipts, payment confirmations, task records, and payout statements for your own records.

Lepem WorkHub will describe any tax documents or reporting functions it actually provides once those functions are established.

10. Changes to this policy

We may revise this Payments Policy when the platform's payment methods, fees, payout processes, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.

The updated policy will show a revised "Last updated" date. Changes will not remove rights that users have under applicable law.
